Holy good news!

Wow, 2011 has come to an amazing end! I'm SO ready for 2012, and I feel it's going to be a great year!

First of all, I was extended and accepted an internal job offer with Schindler! I've been trying to get out of SCSN (my current department) for about two years now, for many reasons. I've been turned down for two positions, and was feeling really discouraged. I had applied for two internal positions at once this time around (accounting and scheduler), and was told by HR that I was being considered for both of them. The hiring process for accounting was much quicker than that of the scheduler position. I honestly told HR that I was prepared to accept whichever offer came in first. Marilyn in accounting called me on Tuesday and extended me an offer, which I promptly accepted! I'm so very excited to finally - after three and a half years - be moving on from customer service in SCSN! Plus, I'm going to be back on full-time day hours, which will be so great being at home with my family in the evenings again. I really miss that.

So, after getting the job, I started a frantic search for daycare. The first place I went was Scary. I met with a lady who's ad sounded nice. But I was not impressed. When I got to her house, the 3 kids that were there looked bored out of their minds, and it seemed to me that she was more concerned with keeping her house clean than she was keeping the kids entertained. I asked a friend of mine, who's little girl just turned old enough to go to "school" at Willow, where Hendrix goes, who used to keep her daughter, and got a referral from her. I called her last night, met with her today at 4, and we have a winner!

Her name is Angie. She's somewhere around my age. She's the cousin of a good friend of ours from church. She has a son who is 2.5, and a daughter who is 9 months. She watches a couple other boys as well. Her house is nice, but there was kids stuff everywhere, which made me comfortable. She said in the summer they play outside all the time. It just felt right. So I'm taking the kids to meet her Friday morning, and they'll start a few hours a day while I transition starting on Tuesday.

Thank the Lord for everything falling into place. I feel like I've been waiting for "this" forever! We are going out with some friends (one of whom connected me with Angie) for New Year's Eve to dinner, then back to their house. It was just going to be a new year's celebration, but I now have so much more to celebrate!! Yahoooo!

Hope everyone has a very Happy New Year. Bring on 2012!

Christmas 2011

I'm not going to lie: I'm glad Christmas is over. I'm not a hum bug. It's just always so busy and tiring.....and expensive! We did have a great Christmas though.

Matt got home early, and we were on the road by 2 pm. We arrived to my mom and dad's house around 4:30. Of course, my mom, sister, and niece all ran to us and grabbed the boys up. Hendrix loved the attention, but I think it scared Jamers a bit. He did his infamous pathetic pucker and started crying. He settled down quickly, though, after he realized that everyone there was alright. :) We had breakfast (pancakes and smokies) for dinner, then opened gifts. It was really nice.

We headed out around 10 am for Elwood. Once there, we just hung out, munched on snacks, then opened gifts. We left around 5 pm and arrived home about 8 pm. Once we got the boys to bed, I set up the tent, and Matt set up the choo choo train. I put the few gifts we had under the tree. Below is a picture of Landon and Hendrix playing with grandpa. So cute!

For the first time in years, we were able to wake up in our own home on Christmas morning! This was - and will continue to be - important to me, now that Hendrix is old enough to understand Santa. I was up first with Jamers, and Hendrix and Matt came down shortly after. Hendrix was initially excited about the tent, but then discovered his cool wooden choo choo train. It was a big hit. :)

Overall, we had a great Christmas, despite my ridiculously annoying sinus infection! It's always great to get home and see family, but always so exhausting as well.

Hope everyone had a great holiday. Time to make those New Year's Resolutions!

I was trying to decide what to make for Hendrix and I's lunch today. Thought about grilled cheese: boring. Thought about quesadillas: didn't have any shredded chicken. Ham and cheese sounded good, but Hendrix had already had 2 pieces of toast today. So I got creative. Hot ham and cheese, on tortilla.

I made them just like you would make a grilled cheese. I just buttered the tortilla. Put it in the skillet, butter-side-down, and layered cheese-ham-cheese. Browned both sides, and voila! Ham-and-cheese-a-dilla! Pair that with a side of carrots and pears (pears are absent from the picture, because they were the first thing to go down the hatch, of course), and you've got a very toddler-friendly lunch! (Momma enjoyed it as well!)

Speedy December!

I realized today that there are only 13 days until Christmas - yikes! Time to start making my lists and checking them twice.....this month is slipping away very quickly.

Luckily, I'm pretty much done shopping. The only thing I still need to get are gifts for Hendrix's teachers at school. I think I'm just going to do lotion and a candle, or something along those lines.

We aren't having any company at our house for Christmas, but I really want a very clean house for the holiday. It seems to make being at home so much more cozy. We're going to be gone that Friday and Saturday, getting back home late Saturday evening. I really want to wake up Sunday morning to a clean house so we can just lazily enjoy our Christmas. :) That being said, time to make my cleaning lists and start crossing things off!

We had a nice (lazy) weekend. Friday I went out for a run, and we had pancakes for dinner. :) Saturday, we had a very lazy day, and just hung out around the house all day!

I went out to dinner with the girls from church that evening. We went to Chili's. It was really enjoyable. I also bought myself a pair of thermal running tights while I was out. Can't wait to run in them this weekend! Sunday, we went to a Christmas party for Chief Supermarkets. The boys sat on Santa's lap. Hendrix was not scared of Santa at all, as you can see from the picture below. Jameson was just interested in pulling on Santa's beard. Hehehe.

It was a nice weekend. Now - time to get to work on my lists! :o)

Running Stats (Dec 5 - Dec10)

It's been a while since I've posted running stats. Here they are for this week:

Monday, 12/5
3 miles (treadmill @ work)
10 min/mile

Tuesday, 12/6
Weights, pilates

Wednesday, 12/7
3 miles (treadmill)
10 min/mile

Thursday, 12/8
Rest day

Friday, 12/9
5 miles outside
(haven't downloaded my run onto the computer yet, pace somewhere around 10 mins)

Saturday 12/10
Rest day

Total miles for the week: 11

My 5 mile run is definitely the longest distance so far for me. My muscles got a little tired, but my breathing was really controlled the whole time, which made me happy. It's crazy what your mind and convince your body of......running my 5k's, I have been pretty tired and ready to be done around 2.75 miles. But at 3 miles yesterday, I totally felt like I had the remaining 2 miles in me. It's such an awesome feeling. I've still got 19 weeks until the 1/2, and I think I just may be able to do this! :o)

Plus, when I weighed myself on Wednesday evening, I was at about 138.5, which is the lowest I've been in years!! I weighed 141 when I got pregnant with Hendrix. Loving the fact that I weigh less now than I did before I had both my children. :)

I sold my breast pump last week and have $80 burning a hole in my pocket, so I'm planning on going to Second Sole Running Shop this evening to buy a pair of running tights.

Loving it! Hope everyone has a great weekend.

13.1 !?!??????

I'm freaking out a little. A runner friend of mine has asked me to train for and run the Glass City 1/2 Marathon in April with her. It's April 22nd, to be exact. Not that I'm worried or anything, but that's 142 days from now. That's ONLY 142 days. Oh my this something I want to do? I'm scared of failure!!!

But here's the thing.....I'm looking up training schedules on line, and they're all around 9-12 weeks training. There are 20 weeks until the race. I figure if I don't make the distance goal on a particular week, that gives me 8 weeks of cushion.

Here's the deal. I'm not going to just not try. That in itself is automatic failure. Will I be able to do it? I don't know. But I'm going to give it a shot. I mean, I can't imagine the feeling of crossing the finish line, after running 13.1 miles. would most definitely be one of the most awesome accomplishments of my life!!!

I'm going to go out and run 4 tomorrow. I keep catching myself saying, "I'm going to try and run 4 miles tomorrow." Then I correct myself - "No, I'm GOING to run 4 miles tomorrow." This training is going to be grueling, but like I said - how AMAZING would it feel to finish my 1st 1/2 marathon?

Ok people - inspiration appreciated!!! Send it my way!
