Happy Thanksgiving

In the past couple years, a trend has surfaced, on Facebook, of stating something you're thankful for each day during the month of November. Well, I'm not one of those people who goes along with the mainstream. While I have plenty to be thankful for, I don't want to be "one of the crowd," in taking part in this trend. Hehehehe.

But anyway, I most certainly have a LOT for which to be thankful! So instead of posting it all on facebook each day, I'll just give a little list here. My thankfulness, of course, goes way beyond this list, but these are just a few things:

* My 2 beautiful, funny, loving sons
* My helpful, caring, communicative husband
* My warm, cozy home
* The ability to put a warm and tasty meal on the table each day
* The fact that Matt and I both have steady jobs and income
* Our loving parents and extended families
* God's grace
* Helpful and friendly neighbors
* A young, vibrant, and passionate church family
* The rights I have as an American woman in 2011
* The soldiers that have fought to give me those rights
* My ability and desire to get out and run, in order to be healthy

God is good, folks. God is good. Happy Thanksgiving.

Gobble, gobble

Wow. I'm pretty much in denial that Thursday is Thanksgiving. Where did November go!?

Don't get me wrong, I'm excited. But man, time is just marching right along!

This year, we are going to Elwood to spend the holiday with Matt's family. It will be a first for us in our marriage. I was thinking back to what we've done each year:

2007: We'd been married a month. We went to Galesburg and spent Thanksgiving at Gigi's house.
2008: I worked Thanksgiving day, and we attempted to cook our own turkey. I think it turned out ok. :)
2009: Hendrix was 1 week old, and Larry and Joyce came to our house for the meal.
2010: I worked, and we stayed home.

This year, we actually get to spend it with all the Metz's, and I'm pretty excited! We're just making a day trip though. Not spending the night. That's just too much for us. But it should be a great day to give thanks for all we have. :)

Someone turned 2!!

Happy birthday, sweet Hendrix!

My little turkey baby turned two years old on Saturday. Wow. We didn't have an official party this year. But my mom, sister, and niece came to our house Friday evening. We had pizza and Hendrix opened his gifts. He got a talking dump truck from Charissa and Rylee. My mom got him some bulldozer/construction equipment bed sheets, fire truck jammies, and some slippers. From us, he got a toy diecast excavator, a transformer action figure, and a lego set. He really loved all his toys!

Saturday, we went to Splash Bay indoor water park in Maumee. We all had a lot of fun, but man was that water COLD! Hendrix loved splashing around, and really enjoyed himself. After the water park, we had cupcakes at our house, then mom, Charissa, and Rylee headed out.

Overall, I think Hendrix had a great 2nd birthday. Can't believe my baby's 2 already!!! Here is is with his Lego R.V. toy (that I put together all by myself, by the way):
